Buffalo Club Foundation

Our Club. Our Home. Our Legacy.

In 2020, the Buffalo Club Board of Directors unanimously approved the creation of a charitable Foundation to preserve and protect the Club’s historic home at 388 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, New York. Founded in 1867 by Millard Fillmore, the 13th U.S. President, the Buffalo Club has counted four U.S. Presidents (Fillmore, Grover Cleveland, William Taft and Theodore Roosevelt) as members along with Ambassadors, CEOs, inventors and community leaders. Recognizing this extraordinary past, The Buffalo Club building was named to both the New York State and National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

But as with any building over 150 years old, our home is showing signs of wear and tear. Several large capital improvements are urgently needed. The Buffalo Club Preservation Foundation is committed to raising the funds necessary for these repairs through the generosity of our membership and our community. We need your help to preserve the Club’s home for the future.

The Foundation was created and formally recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a legitimate 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As such, all gifts will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The main goal is to establish and grow an endowment to fund clearly defined projects as recommended by the General Manager and Club Board. All grants will be approved by the Foundation Board. The endowment will be independently managed by a professional financial advisor in accordance with established industry standards. The Foundation Board will oversee the endowment, keeping it fully autonomous from the Club Board as legally required in order to maintain it’s not-for-profit status. While the immediate goal will be to fund the endowment, certain restricted gifts will be accepted as well. Larger gifts may be pledged over a period of time. Gifts will be recognized and honored in an appropriate manner. Gifts made in memory of or in honor of an individual are encouraged and will be noted accordingly.

"Connecting yesterday’s greatness with tomorrow’s possibilities.”
